Special Effects -- Portraits
The fun of photography includes all of the creative things we can do with an image. These are our most popular special effects, which can be applied to any of your portraits. Printed samples of these effects are available for viewing at our studio.

The first group of three photos shows a normal color portrait, then the same image in black & white and then brown tone (also known as sepia). The is no extra charge for transforming your color portrait into black & white or brown tone.
The following effects have a fee for creating the effect, in addition to whatever prints you order. Add the fee to your print order on our order form.
The next effect is called Inspiration. It is your favorite pose in color, set into a black and white, diffused, horizontal version of the same pose. It is a very personal way to give your picture to the special people in your life. This special effect costs $24.00 to create.
What fun it is to share a Mirror image of yourself! A black & white version is reversed and placed next to your favorite pose. We'll work with you to create poses for this, or help you pick poses that will work best with this innovative image (Thanks to Julie!). Done horizontally, it can appear that you are reflected in water. The Mirror effects costs $24.00 to create.
Starry Glow is a very romantic, Hollywood-style treatment of a portrait, with heavy diffusion and highlights that glow. It recalls the skill of those classic movie makers who idealized every woman through a friendly lens. Starry Glow costs $18.00 to create.
Spot Color has become popular again, as it reminds us of a by-gone era when photographs were hand tinted. Give us your ideas about spot color on your picture and we will make it happen. An effect like the one here costs $27.00 to create. More complex coloring could cost more. In the example below, we made a brown tone version first, then colored the flower, finger nails, and furniture.
The Five Image Montage is your most important gift for the most important people in your life. We will fully retouch five of the poses you choose and then arrange them like the sample shown here. We recommend an 8x10 print as the smallest practical size for this memorable collection of your pictures. It costs $42.00 to create. These images could also be blended without hard edges, and the background could be any color, pattern, or another image!
Other Effects -- There is almost no effect we cannot do! So, if there is something you want that you don't see here, please bring us a sample, and we'll discuss how to do it and what it will cost. And, sometimes we come up with a new effect based on the session we have done with you.
If you look at our Portfolios, you will see some treatments that came naturally out the sessions. It's your portrait, so be a creative as you want!
