We really like doing two kinds of portraits -- first are "head shots" (a horrible term but we're used to it!) for professionals in business or for performers such as singers and actors. The second kind are model portfolios for beginning models.  A third kind of portrait would be environmental portraits, done in a person's workplace or other environment -- but these are mostly for editorial assignments and are not covered on this page.

This is a typical business portrait. It is done at our studio and costs $60 (we have a discount for non-profits). We will make 6 or 8 images on average, and you will see them on the computer.  You pick the one you want, and I will retouch it, and send you a 4x6 print and an electronic file on a disk, with a copyright release so you can get prints made elsewhere if you want. We can also do this on location for groups of employees for $125 per hour -- details such as electronic file sizes, number of shots per employee, print sizes, etc., to be negotiated.  This is also an option for senior yearbook pictures.

This is a portrait of a performer and is more dramatic, perhaps more personal, and is meant to be used for publicity -- so the performer will determine what kind of look we want to achieve. Otherwise it's like the business portrait -- it costs $60, you pick the best shot at the studio, and I then will retouch it, put it on a disk, and give you one 4x6 print. This is also an option for senior pictures.

Model portfolios take a couple of hours of studio time and will yield at least 10 good 8x10s for use in your book (That's 10 different poses with one 8x10 of each). Time is a little inexact because I will spend as much time as we need -- two hours is the minimum, three hours the maximum.  Cost is $260 and includes the 10 - 8x10s and a CD with copyright release so you can get additional prints made elsewhere if you want. Seniors can choose to do this instead of a traditional package.

The 10 good pictures mentioned above would consist of full-length, medium, and close-ups in different outfits against different backgrounds, with a variety of poses that we create together.

If you would like an hour on location somewhere like the beach, please add $125. We'll base the shoot on the kind of modeling you want to do and will tailor a variety of backgrounds and lighting styles to fit the look you want to create.

You get a proof book which you keep at no charge. We'll help you plan the session in advance. We do not provide hair or make-up services.  Retouching will be minimal and invisible, and within the ethics of modeling (If you have a pimple that day, I will remove it, but I will not change your basic skin, hair, eyes, etc.) Our goal is to show you at your very best!

You can also use the files on the disk to get a composite card (a Zed comp card) made by a printer. Or, I can design the comp card for you as a jpg or tif file for your printing. Fee for comp card design and proofing is $60.00

A deposit of $100 is required when scheduling a portfolio shoot.

We (Kathy and Rick) always do these sessions as a team, but you should bring a helper if you can.

One reason that we provide files on a disk is to encourage you to purchase less expensive prints at local camera stores, retail stores, or on-line if that will meet your need.  This is especially true if you need quantities of prints.

Note that photographic services and products are subject to state sales tax.

We accept cash, personal checks, VISA and MasterCard.

*Equivalent of a free 8x10 print would be 2 5x7s, or 3 - 4x6s or 16 wallets.

Conversion to black and white, or warm tones, is free.

Spot color is $42 plus print price.

The Five-image montage is $42 to do the montage, then $32 for an 11x14 print (which is the only size this comes in). The print is delivered in an acrylic box frame.

Special Requests:

We can probably do any special effect -- so if you have an example of what you want, please share it with us.  Fee will be $42 plus print price.

Planning your session:

Clothes:  You will need a variety of clothing.  You might want something formal and dressy, something relaxed, something sporty. Bring several colors. The more varied your clothing, the better!

Hair and skin:  You are responsible for looking your best, so pay attention to how your hair and skin will look.  We can remove all kinds of blemishes and acne, but your need to have your hair and makeup ready to be photographed.

Props:  Bring your favorite things!  Items that reflect your interests will add greatly to your pictures. Think of your musical instruments, sports items and uniforms.

Bring a helper:  We (Rick and Kathy) always work as a team, but if your mom or best friend wants to come, all the better -- they will be included!

Bring music:  Bring your iPod or other MP3 player with your favorite music. It will help get you relaxed and add to the mood of the session.

Don't rush:  You will be our only session, and we will not rush you, so you should dedicate the day to this event and have fun with it. Make it your last stop so you don't have to hurry off anywhere and can take your time at the studio.

Call for a free consultation:  We are happy to meet with you to work this all out, way before the session.  440-382-0028.  We do not like the hard sell, so if you choose not to use us, that's fine -- no one will call if you decide not to book a session!
